Moray Street Drama Centre

Since the club's founding over 90 years ago, Wick Players have relied on various storage units scattered across the town to house our growing collection of props, costumes, and equipment. But as our ambitions and membership expanded, so too did our need for a permanent home—one that could serve not just as a storage facility, but as a vibrant centre for rehearsals, production planning, and creative collaboration. In the early 2000s, driven by the vision and determination of our committee, members, and generous local supporters, we embarked on a search for such a space. That journey led us to a former furniture shop on Moray Street, which we proudly acquired in 2004.

This two-level building has since become the creative heart of Wick Players. The ground floor welcomes visitors with a spacious foyer, often buzzing with activity during show season. It leads into three large rehearsal halls, each offering ample room for blocking scenes, refining choreography, and hosting workshops. Our dedicated workshop and paint room allow for hands-on set construction and scenic artistry, while the large walk-in wardrobe houses an impressive array of costumes, meticulously organised and ready to bring characters to life.

The building also includes practical amenities that support the comfort and accessibility of our members and guests, including a fully equipped kitchen and a disabled-access toilet. Whether it's a quiet evening of script read-throughs or the lively bustle of pantomime preparations, our Moray Street premises provide a welcoming, functional, and inspiring environment for all aspects of our theatrical work. It stands as a testament to the club’s resilience, resourcefulness, and deep-rooted commitment to community drama.
